3par storage - usable & written capacity calculation

Hi All,

I have a few questions regarding the 3par storage sizing ….

  • How to  calculate usable capacity in 3par storage
  • According to me thin provisioning license should be calculated based on written capacity. What is written capacity?
  • How to calculate written capacity?
  • Is there any tool available to get these figures easily?

For  example:-

HP 3par p100-v400 storage

-> 4 disk enclosures

->12 magazine  of  600 GB disks

-> 4 megazine of 2TB disks

What will be the usable capacity on this storage?

How much TB license require enabling thin provisioning?

Thanks

Prasanth

Possibly the advertised capacity?  That's what showpd gives.

>12 magazines of 600 GB disks

I assume 4 disks per magazine?

>What will be the usable capacity on this storage?

It depends on the RAID level.

You need to answer the above questions.  What RAID level and what type of availability?

Have you tried the showspace command?
