Architecting for “Mobile First”

‎05-20-2013 03:37 AM - edited ‎09-07-2015 09:39 PM

There is discord brewing, where do you stand on the issue? The issue surrounds whether to design for “Mobile First” or as an afterthought. If you follow some of the online debates and discussions about how mobility is changing the way apps (Systems of Engagement) are impacting how apps are designed—you have seen the sides of the argument.

I recently had the opportunity to spend some time talking with AK Agarwal, senior enterprise architect, HP Software.

In this episode of our conversation, we discuss the question “How do you architect for mobile first?”

Mobile First or Mobile Only?

I appreciated AK's perspective on designing for mobile, but what struck me was the importance of letting employees use their own devices. This is a dramatic change from previous thoughts of forcing employees onto the corporate network and behind the firewall.

Social, however was a surprise. But, when I stop to think about how Facebook, Twitter and social networking in general has changed the way we communicate with each other, it only makes sense that this needs to be part of an enterprise mobility strategy.

Are there any productive applications based on the HP Anywhere SDK?

If yes, how developed them and what was the their  experience?
