screenshots.pngAs customers increasingly rely on their smart-phones, tablets, MFPs, and scanning devices, information travels ever more quickly along digitalized paths to reach the intended audience. The increasing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement within the IT industry highlights the mindset that indeed, mobile is the future of communication, technology and innovation.

Across the world, the transformative mobile landscape within IT has represented a sense of empowerment for various social groups and individuals.  From teenagers in the developing world who seek a greater lens of education through mobile technology for their schooling, to women who have used mobile technology to voice their opinions and ideas in politically repressive regimes, mobility has transformed organizations as powerfully as it has served as a social impetus for change.  With this in mind, the platform of performance testing has been equally shaped by mobility’s influential dynamics.  As users engage in innovative ways to engage in their testing platforms, we share with you our newest invention, Service Virtualization 3.5, playing its own role in this change!

At HP Software, the drive to improve application lifecycles never ends. HP Service Virtualization is designed to deliver benefits for the entire lifecycle, allowing developers, functional testers and performance testers to work more efficiently.

If you haven’t experienced Service Virtualization and Testing (SV) tools, here is how they work. By mimicking production-like testing environments, SV tools eliminate obstacles like hard-to-reach services on remote equipment and services that are available only for a very limited period of time. SVT tools simplify testing and improve test effectiveness by letting you test applications continuously.

The new release of HP Service Virtualization 3.50 delivers a range of new SVT enhancements to protocols, simulations and management. Here is a quick rundown of what the new version offers:

protocol enhancements.pngProtocol Enhancements

  • Improved SAP Virtualization — Now featuring full IDOC message tree modeling, you can create a service or operation by specifying IDOC message type, type and extension, or IDOC number. You can also design an IDOC service by importing IDOC documents, or simulate asynchronous a SAP IDOC response with custom correlation for simulation. You can create RFC services from scratch by importing RFC functions from a target SAP system. This update includes Advanced IDOC Request Response Correlation totwo-way interchange of IDOCs with application-level correlation), improved IDOC metadata handling. This will make all our SAP customers who are using HP World class performance test tools by allowing end to end testing.
  • Enhanced JMS Security Configuration — You can now set client certificates and authority of server certificates of Mutual SSL authentication, with added Trust and Key store for JMS agent configuration. Thus security related obstacles will be eliminated.

Simulation Enhancements

  • Improved Performance Simulations — To be able to perform real world conditions in performance test with simulated services Optional Transactions per period limit have been added to the Performance Model. This condition can be expressed in Transactions per Second, Minute and Hour, and processing will now be delayed when loads are higher than allowed in performance model.
  • Batch Processing Performance Modeling— Simulate delayed asynchronous responses, with the ability to set periodical repetition, schedule response sending for several times in the day and set a maximum number of messages that can be set at specified time. It is also possible to limit performance with new transactions per second (TPS) metric

  • Scripted rule enhancements — Java script simulations are four-times faster, with improved error reporting, the ability to edit large scripts in separate tabs and the addition of simple IntelliSense.

Other important updates include:

  • Safari browser
  • New “SVM Users” user group lets you limit access to Service Virtualization Management
  • Oracle DB is now supported for storing data, in addition to MS SQL Server Service Virtualization. We see a lot of Oracle database in the architecture of the user community. This new addition will make our HP customers very happy.  (Please view on Service Virtualization blog for more details).
  • New row detail view in array editing allows you to move or duplicate items.
