BSM 9.12 performance monitoring and tuning

Hi,

Is there anyway to monitor the performance for BSM without using the system monitor (seperate sitescope install). We are experiencing high CPU and slow resonse times since going live with some monitoring so we need to know why mercuryAS is maxing out CPU. Also any areas for tuning memory usage by the application.

THanks

Re: BSM 9.12 performance monitoring and tuning

The mercuryAS always takes all the memory available, but you also have to see how much 'physical' memory you have in your system and don't take too much.

Check in VMparams file :
-Xms1200m -Xmx1200m -XX:NewSize=160m -XX:MaxNewSize=160m -XX:PermSize=228m -XX:MaxPermSize=384m .

you don't need to use these parameters but you can also try to upgrade the MaxPermSize. Also Not to much, try per 64m or 128m .

Re: BSM 9.12 performance monitoring and tuning

Hi,

If MercuryAS is having constant high values of CPU utilization - it is better that you open a Support ticket. The reasons for this could be many and of course it depends on your system resources (CPU and RAM) - but this is not a normal behavior.

I updated the parameter file and saw a dramatic reduction in the amount of CPU the mercuryAS process consumed after a restart.
