HP SiteScope - After several warnings, convert threshold to error

Dear Experts,

We are currently using SiteScope 11.22 installed on RHEL.

I was wondering if it was possible to lets say after the monitor goes into warning at least 2 times, then change the same threshold and make it turn into error status.

For example, lets say I created a url monitor that runs every 1 minute.

And I want to be sent an email alert after the 2nd error.

I set the warning threshold when the url monitor fails at one of the steps in the monitor.

Then I want the 2nd time the monitor fails to be set as an error threshold and stay in error status until the status changes back to a good status.

The reason for this is I am afraid that there may be some network blips or lots of network traffic and that the url is up but just that SiteScope may have a hard time connecting.

So when I run a quick report, I can exclude the warnings to get an uptime percentage.

Let me know if this is possible or if there are any suggestions.

Any advice on this is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Warning is warning and error is error. One cannot turn into another on its own. Unless you manually change the thresholds to meet your objectives.

What you can is to configure an alert to be triggered upon 2 (or as many as you need) warnings in a row, or 2 (or as many as you need ) errors in a row. It would allow you to avoid false alarms.

Thanks Dmitry, but is there a way to not include single errors in the uptime percentage but only include the errors that have errored at least 2 times in the uptime percentage? Because sometimes there are lots of traffic in the network or something and SiteScope may have trouble connecting to the url or something, so I wanted to try to eliminate these metrics from the uptime percentage.
Thanks,

I'm not aware of any way to exclude certain data from SiteScope reports.

The only thing that is somewhat close to what you want is using "Verify error" monitor setting. But it's generally not recommended to be used especially in large SiteScope environments. You can read about this setting and implications of using it in the "Using SiteScope" guide.
