Monitor Message broker through HP SiteScope

Hello Experts,

 

We have a need to monitor Message broker through SiteScope. The customer already had the WebSphere MQ license and we have deployed that monitor too. But that monitor just focuses on the Queues and channels. This is not top priority for them, only message broker is.

Need inputs and help as to how do i do that from Sitescope.

Hi,

Currently there is no dedicated monitor for that but I have seen customers using WAS monitor to monitor some of its MBeans but it may not work for all

Hi,

 

Is it possible to obtain that information from the WebSphere server itsefl? I mean using a CMD?

 

If so, you can create a script and run it using the SiS script monitor.

Hello Gunnar,

 

To be honest i do not know if that can be done. Also the customer wants to know what all can be monitored of Message broker from SIS.

So it is like once we can show them what all can be monitored, they will let us know what needs to be actually monitored.

It is an on the fly process.

 

If there is some script that can do that, it would be helpful if you could share that. I can run that and list the things that can be monitored.

Please check attached document, starting at page 44, there you can find all the metrics can be monitored using WebSphere monitor.

Hello Gunnar,

 

Thanks, that doc helped.What i found out was that these metrics were already agreed by the customer to be monitored using WAS MQ.

But now they want to monitor the Message Broker part of it.

Any idea how do i do it? or what metrics can be monitored of Message BRoker?

what is WAS monitor? Have you any instructions of how to setup one?

WebSphere Application Server monitor. Basically a JMX monitor using IBMs client libraries.
