Unable to retrieve Oracle 10g counters in SiteScope 11.22.

Unable to retrieve Oracle 10g counters in SiteScope 11.22.

Hi All,

We are trying to monitor Oracle 10g in SiteScope 11.22.

I have already tried placing multiple JDBC drivers in SiteScope/web-INF/lib and SiteScope/java/lib/ext folders but I am still getting error

"Step1: Attempting to Locate Driver Class...

**ERROR***Unable instantiate the driver class. The class name was found, but could not be instantiated, or th driver does not support the specified URL.

 drivers used: ojdbc14.jar, classes12.zip, classes12.jar,ojdbc5.jar.

Each of which was placed one at a time and tested but no success.

Please provide help on this.

Regards,

Hanumant

Re: Unable to retrieve Oracle 10g counters in SiteScope 11.22.

Hi HanumantMadane

You could give the following a go (taken from another similar thread from some time back):

1) Installed the Oracle "Instant Client" (depending on the version of the Oracle DB, available here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/instant-client/index-097480.html)

2) In our case, we start the Sitescope service with an AD account. Logged in to the Sitescope machine (we're using MS Windows 2008 Server to run Sitescope) with the AD account in question, configured the system variables (LD_LIBRARY_PATH, default is C:\OracleClient; SQLPATH, default is C:\OracleClient; TNS_ADMIN, default is C:\OracleClient). Logged out and back in to have the variables take effect.

3) Copied the "ojdbc5.jar" file (will be in the location where you installed the Oracle Instant Client, default is C:\OracleClient) to $SITESCOPE_HOME\WEB-INF\lib\

4) Restarted Sitescope

5) Tested everything works fine by running the DB connect tool. Format is:

Connection string: jdbc:oracle:thin:@[HOST][:PORT]:SID OR jdbc:oracle:thin:@//[HOST][:PORT]/SERVICE

Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver

More info on the connection strings here: http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/JDBC

Re: Unable to retrieve Oracle 10g counters in SiteScope 11.22.

Hello,

I create a word document with the steps you must follow.

I do this document with Oracle 10g Express Edition.

Please take a look carefully on Database Connection, Database Driver and Credentials.

I hope it will helps

Maybe just worth adding as well that the Oracle DB account you're using for Sitescope will need read access to the so-called data dictionary views.

If your DBA wants specifics (taken from Sitescope help):

The user specified in the Credentials section must be granted the permission to execute SELECT queries to the following tables:

V$INSTANCE
V$STATNAME
V$SYSSTAT
V$SESSION
V$SESSTAT
V$PROCESS
DBA_DATA_FILES
DBA_FREE_SPACE
