Seems like we've had a steady stream of announcements over the last several months and a few of them have come from our HP StoreVirtual team.  We made some enhancements to the HP StoreVirtual Storage in November, including changing the name from HP LeftHand.  I did a ChalkTalk on those updates.

About a month ago, we had a few more updates to share focused on new mid-range StoreVirtual appliances and I had another ChalkTalk with those updates.

I have a ChalkTalk with the news we're sharing today.  I'll give you hint - a new HP BladeSystem-based StoreVirtual appliance.  Check it out in the ChalkTalk.

I also have our Press Advisory that summarizes the news - it's a good summary of the news today.

I've seen a couple of articles in tech publications that talk about the news today. They are:

  • HP Announces StoreVirtual Storage via Storage Review. In the article, the authors correctly note that "overall, these new and updated HP offerings created integrated solutions for a wide range of markets and use cases." Referring to our StoreVirtual VSA, they also said, "For midrange users, HP presents solutions that don't require storage arrays for remote or branch offices. This can drastically drive down costs by reducing footprint and energy costs."
  • HP extends virtualised storage offerings with StoreVirtual expansion via In it they quote my colleague Dale Degen saying that the 4630 “is the ultimate converged infrastructure,” and “really reduces your TCO, it is a real boost in value to the customer."

Lastly, if you haven't seen the blog post series that Kate Davis has started talking about software-defined storage, I highly recommend you check that out.  You'll hear lots more about that in the coming weeks from Kate.
