Password in username

For some reason when I boot my XP machine the password appears in the username box. I then enter the same password in the password box and I can logon.

For some reason XP created a username out of my password but the username isn't under the Control panel users.

I can see it if I right click on My Computer and go to Properties > Advanced > User Profiles-Settings. But when I deleted it and rebooted it came back.

I also tried going into regedit and changing everything that said my password to the username. But once I rebooted that it still came up with the password in the username box.

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Password in username

Just try! You might have mistakenly created a user with name of the password and password as password again. So,

Start->run

compmgmt.msc

Find in the left pane for local users, then see whether you have such user. If required rename or recreate.
