"DEAD" short cut Icons on Desktop

Please help! Any short cut icons that I've placed on my Desktop have somehow become "Dead" as in I click them and they just flash but dont do anything more. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi Frankie,

It looks like the system is infected by Rapid Blaster Worm. Try these steps:

Download and install the removal utility of Rapid Blaster spyware from the following weblink:

ftp://65.19.149.101/whizatpc.com/Patches/rapidblasterkiller.exe

This is a direct download link. Save the file onto the desktop and double-click on the downloaded rapidblasterkiller.exe. Restart the system which will resolve the issue.

Thank you for your advice Ramesh Pakkath . I ran the scan and it says "Blaster Worm NOT found on system". I also just realized that I cant get into my Control Panel either. Somebody Please advise.
