Information Governance: “I've lost that bloated feeling.” Sung by your IT organization.

One of my resolutions every new year is to lose weight. By the end of January, I’ve over indulged through the holidays, snacked to my heart’s content during the college bowl games, and have a full (not so healthy) menu already prepared the Big Game on Sunday! I feel bloated and out of shape, but I have a plan—starting Monday—to lose that excess weight and improve my health.

This situation mimics what many enterprises are experiencing with a bloated data problem. Nobody wants to take the responsibility to delete data, but this data overload impacts business performance and affects the health of the entire organization.

This problem is easily remedied by safely preserving and removing inactive structured data from production and legacy systems, while preserving data integrity and access. Implementing a structured data management policy transforms the sluggish, bloated problems of managing structured data into an opportunity to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

The growing problem with structured data

Getting started is easy when you address these basic questions:

  1. What data are we keeping and why?
  2. Where is it stored?
  3. Can we access and use this data?
  4. Can we hold, retain, and delete defensibly?

Implementing this analysis into a database archiving policy with HP Application Information Optimizer can offer you the following optimal benefits:

  • Proactively control future data growth
  • Minimize additional storage capacity costs and valuable resources
  • Dramatically increase service levels by reducing the volume of data in production databases

Problem solved! This is worth singing about!
