Information Governance: ILTA Conference Wrap-Up

JoeGarber ‎08-27-2013 01:22 AM - edited ‎08-27-2013 03:48 PM

The ILTA Conference concluded in Las Vegas late last week.  With several days of packed “executive suite” briefings, extremely well attended speaking sessions, and robust booth traffic, this event again reinforced that the legal market’s needs – particularly in eDiscovery and legal content management – remain well aligned with HP Autonomy’s offerings.

From my perspective, an overriding theme of the event was the mutually beneficial relationship between HP and Autonomy, especially since the new Autonomy LinkSite product that was announced earlier in the week.  This hybrid cloud solution integrates Autonomy WorkSite, an on-premises document and email management system with HP Flow CM, HP’s public cloud file sharing and collaboration service.  The analysts we spoke with indicated that they are now seeing several tangible proof points – Autonomy LinkSite being a more-visible example – of the synergies between HP and Autonomy.

One of the show highlights was our “Company Update” session with several key HP Autonomy executives.  During the session, our speakers gave an in-depth analysis on how HP Autonomy’s ECM offering (anchored by Autonomy WorkSite) is maturing to address today’s challenges. The speakers highlighted topics such as leveraging automation for greater efficiency, reliability and accountability; addressing the cost, compliance and complexity of big data; facilitating stronger collaboration internally and across the firewall; and enabling the mobile worker with content, process and power.

Another highlight for me was the HP Autonomy customer event at the Cosmopolitan Hotel’s Marquee nightclub, which featured the 80s cover band The Spazmatics.  This very well attended party demonstrated that legal technology professionals also like to have some fun.  I hadn’t had an opportunity to attend this annual after-hours event in the past, but I’d heard that it was not to be missed.  All accounts were certainly accurate.  I still have fond memories of a completely full dance floor “jumping” to House of Pain’s 1992 hit song Jump Around.

Looking ahead, we have many more events coming up in the next several months in which we’ll be highlighting our legal and compliance offerings, including: ACC (October 27-30 in LA), ARMA (October 28-30 in Las Vegas), and of course LegalTech (February 4-6 in New York).  We hope to see you there.
