It training/ career pathing-options
What I am researching is the feasibility and different training options available in placing redundant clerical staff into hard to recruit Information Technology positions. This would also provide career pathing and promotional opportunities to clerical staff. Some organizations(public and private) have partnerships with local colleges and universities to provide the training. Others are turning to E-Training environments. This would allow employees to train to fill valuable IT positions without having to quit or take long leaves of absences ( eg: to obtain a degree).I have found some articles but would definetly like to gather more info. Can anyone help? What are HP's practices regarding this type of issue?

Re: It training/ career pathing-options
Greetings, If your clerical staff is motivated, all the options you mention would work. However if they are not motivated, you may want to consider contract help with a right to hire. This way if they are not up to your satisfaction, you can always end the contract and the training costs are minimal.
