HP Service Health Reporter (SHR) is a cross-domain reporting solution in BSM that enables IT service reporting of dynamic IT environments. In its latest release 9.31, SHR rolls out a set of offerings which ranges from provisioning Location and Customer details for Managed Service Provider use cases, to simplifications in the area of Content Development.

SHR 9.31 : The latest additions …

Let’s look at some of the interesting possibilities that are available with the latest SHR version...

1. Location-Based Reports – Now you can generate reports on infrastructure and applications based on their geographical location by provisioning location details in SHR. This is an add-on to location data collection from external sources - SHR continues to source location data for EUM and Network content from the source applications and it is also possible to continue sourcing location data from RtSM as well. For more details on achieving this, see the technical whitepaper on this topic.

2. Customer Provisioning —Customized Reporting Content by customers can now be enabled by provisioning customer information in SHR (eg, for Managed Service Provider use cases). The HP SHR Administration Guide details out steps for provisioning customer information for reporting.

Managing Dimensions — One of the key aspects of any data repository is handling the lifecycle of dimensions that exist within so as to ensure data integrity and consistency to the fullest. With the newly added feature on managing dimensions, the data repository in SHR can gracefully handle inactive and duplicate dimensions as well. The SHR Community blog post on this topic throws some light into the scenarios where this tool proves its worth.

4. Content Development Simplified — A ubiquitous feedback on SHR content dev had been regarding the necessity to author content models and a set of xml artifacts for even simple content integrations (say content cretaion sourcing data from an external database for instance). Well, we’ve been listening to you on these aspects and with the simplified Content Development option in SHR9.31, you can build SHR content in a faster and more simplified manner. For more details, read up on the recent blog, “The Cat in the Hat teaches SHR Content Dev”.

5. Enabling Migrations from OM to BSM deployments— As customers evolve from classic OM to BSM/OMi deployments or migrate from reporting solutions like HP Performance Insight (OVPI), SHR enables a seamless “switch” between the topology sources with the newly available tool. Read the highly engaging blog post on OM to BSM Migration tool for more details and insights on this topic.

Over and above these features, we have also some enhancements in SHR 9.31, including:fs_rep.jpg
