Are your mobile users having fun? How can you be sure?

If your company has created a mobile application either for customers or for employees I want to ask you one question—how do you know if the end user of your mobile app is having “fun”?

The short answer is that you don’t.


How could you?  The user is likely someone you have never met, may not speak your language and could be on the other side of the planet for all you know.  All facts aside the question still stands.

How do you know if the users of your “great” mobile app are having fun?

HP just announced “AppPulse Mobile” and more importantly the revolutionary index of end user experience we are calling the “FUNdex”.  This graphical display leverages Big Data Analytics to record and analyze the actual end user experience at the point of user. This ability empowers the FUNdex to calculate the end user experience with your mobile app.


Let me explain with a few simple examples.  Perhaps a user in Japan is trying to use your application and they are getting poor or sketchy performance.  Maybe they are trying to hit the enter key or check a box or go to next page.  Whatever the function is, the user is repeating a motion over and over in hopes of moving your application faster.  It is not working and your user ends up frustrated.


This simple activity would likely lead to a one-star rating and some negative feed “If” the user provided feedback.  In most cases, the mobile app is simply deleted and the user goes on to use a different application. As a result, you don’t know about that poor user in Japan and you have lost an opportunity to improve.


Let’s give another example.  As you get more and more users you will see patterns in phones and networks.  Some will perform great and others will have opportunities for improvement.  Again unless you are leveraging AppPulse Mobile from HP and the FUNdex you will be left in the dark about this real world usage.


The cherry on top (if you will) with this revolutionary product is it will actually make recommendations to you and your development teams on areas of the product that can be focused on to improve your users FUNdex.  This gives you the ability to go to market faster and have an improved user experience and more happy users.

Simply said if you are going to spend the money on building a mobile application, you should invest in ensuring you are getting the most value out of the solution as possible.
