HP ServiceIT helps small and medium businesses keep their eyes on the ball!

According to the National Cyber Security Alliance, 60% of small businesses will fail within six months of falling victim to a cyber-attack. This statistic helps highlight one challenge that small and medium sized businesses face every day—although technology is as critical to the success of SMBs as it is to that of larger companies, many SMBs do not have dedicated IT teams. This means, when there are IT issues, (whether from downtime, cyber-attacks, or natural disasters) valuable time is taken away from SMB owners and staff. So instead of focusing on what they need to do to make the business successful, they must spend time correcting these IT issues.


HP started talking with SMBs to find out what can be done to help these customers gain more benefits from IT solutions. During these discussions, HP heard many different answers to what SMBs needed including:

  • A complete solution that gets set up fast so they can start reaping the benefits
  • Make it affordable so they can use the latest technology to create competitive advantage
  • Make it reliable to reduce their risk and keep them focused on their business


However, it is not a one-size-fits-all world, so HP did not want to offer a one-size-fits-all solution. HP realized that SMB customers can be in many different phases of their business. While some are just starting out and need quick solutions with few IT resources, others are starting to really build momentum and want to use technology to gain a competitive advantage but lack the IT team they feel is needed. Then, there are those at the point of expanding their business, who are looking at new opportunities, but need technology to help them get there.


To help SMBs on all parts of their IT journey, HP rolled out a new set of services for small and medium sized customers called ServiceIT, which includes:

  • Cloud Services—so SMB customers can get the benefits of cloud computing just as larger businesses do
  • Technology Services—to help SMBs plan, implement, and support their IT solutions
  • Financial Services—to help SMBs afford the solutions they need
  • Education Services—so SMBs can build their own expertise as they need


Business is about staying focused and moving fast and that is precisely what HP is helping their SMB customers do, all while helping them avoid missteps that may take their eye off their business, or even threaten its survival.
