Connecting Pavilion Notebook to a D-Link 614+ router
I have just bought a dv5020ca HP Notebook PC and trying to connect to my existing D-Link 614+ router. But, it seems I am having a lot of difficult connecting. I have the WEP turned on and have can share the network key but even upon entering it, there is no connection. BTW, I do have DHCP turned on and have entered the proper MAC address of this laptop for filtering.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
I can be reached at rmuradia@gmail.com. Thanks.

Re: Connecting Pavilion Notebook to a D-Link 614+ router
It is usually easier to set up a notebook to a router with NO WEP or any other filtering until you have a solid signal. Once connected, you can add the WEP then the MAC filter as needed.
BTW, WEP will narrow your bandwidth and can be the cause of a weak signal. Each packet has to be encrypted then decoded between the units. Using a MAC filter is normally sufficient and will lock out unwanted users and if SID is turned off, no one will even know about your signal.
