12508 IRF - Same Arp entery shown multiple times on the same interface

Hi all,

I have two 12508 BB in IRF mode, i run software version 12500-cmw520-r1828.

The issue is that i have about 2000 mac-address while in the arp table i have 8000 enteries.

I have tried to clear the arp table even did a reset to the BB but it didn't help to reduce the number of arp table enteries.

I see the same arp entry with the same mac adrress about 4 to 7 times via the same interface.

Any direction to troublshoot this kind of issue?

What IP addresses are involved?

If you have IPv6 running as well as IPv4, then that sounds about right.

I run only IPV4 in the network.

In that case, maybe the IRF MAC-addresses are being displayed instead of being suppressed as they should.
There should bed a mac-address entry for each device, per IRF member, so that all members of the stack can find the correct output port, but the internal IRF entries shouldn't be displayed.

I have bladecenters and physical servers that conncted directly to the BB and  i see same arp entery for their ip address.

This behaviour caused the BB to reach it's arp limit and we had to increase the arp table size.

the command we used to change the arp table size was:

system working mode routee

Now we just need to know why we have the 4 times the same arp entry for the same mac-address.? and how can i resovle it.
