Getting 3com 8807 Up to Date

I've recently gotten a second hand 3com 8807 and I'm looking to set it up in my test lab. I know very little about the switch and I'm just starting to configure this one but upon running 'display version' I see it's V3.01.02r. Seeing the latest as 3.01.32 I figure it's rather out of date. So I'm reading the upgrade guide and it makes note of BootROM upgrade file 'LSBSRP1N01303.APP' for the MPU & 'LSBLMCUA01304.APP' for the LPU.

.

I for the life of me can't find these files, any thoughts/links?

Re: Getting 3com 8807 Up to Date

Hi MastricX,

I haven't used the 3Com-branded switches, but the H3C- and HP-branded ones include the boot ROM within the software update. The first time it boots after a software update, it detects that it's running on an old boot ROM version, extracts and installs the new boot loader, and reboots. The release notes should say something about this.

They actually say not to upgrade unless you've replaced the MPU & LPU firmware first :P

I was able to find a link for the v31 update on HPs site that included the files required to get v31 working.

Hi MastricX

A few days ago the 03_01_32s256rec13 was released. It's the latest relaese since 3 years. May that helps.

What H3C hardware is the 8807 based on?

Re: Getting 3com 8807 Up to Date

As the header of this thread tells you, it's a 3com device. The 3Com 8800 was never transformed into the HP portofolio.

Re: Getting 3com 8807 Up to Date

The latest update rc13 contains only 1 .app file and a .pdf. It appears to be missing the updates for the modules too. Unless I'm missing something.

Side note, the 3com 8800 series appears to also go by HP 8800 series, and looks alot like the H3C S9500E series

My switch is running happly on update 31 one now though, so I'm happy.

Don┬┤t know what the 3Com 8800 is based on. If you look at the H3C┬┤s homepage, the 9500 uses Comware 3:

http://www.h3c.com.cn/Service/Software_Download/Switches/Catalog/H3C_S9500/H3C_S9500/

9500E uses Comware 5: http://www.h3c.com.cn/Service/Software_Download/Switches/Catalog/H3C_S9500E/H3C_S9500E/

If you can identify the correct switch, it would be easy to provide you with the H3C firmware...

MastricX, I'm working on my 8810.  Can you describe where you got these files on HP's site?

I searched HP for the Fabric itself,

The 88h03_01_31s is the file i downloaded.
