H3C : HP mapping

Sometimes I cannot find manuals / release notes for Comware based switches. Then I usually take a look at H3C´s homepage. Therefore a mapping between H3C and HP switches would be nice. But there are many more H3C devices or sub-models (S, X, E, F,...) than HP ones. It would be great if you could fill the gaps:

Re: H3C : HP mapping

Having spent some time on the H3C website, for CLI guides for HP1920, I like this topic.

H3C S5110 == ~HP 1920
S5110 ??  On H3C site, searching for S5110 returns no results.

Re: H3C : HP mapping

Hi Michael,

Were you able to add more devices to the mapping list below? If yes, would you  mind sharing.

Thanks,

Jay

Re: H3C : HP mapping

Hello @MichaelM55, What's about the new HPE FlexNetwork 7500X Switch series (have a look here)? It was suggested its roots are those of the H3C S7500X Switch series (if so, I assume the H3C S7500 would instead refer to the HPE FlexNetwork 7500 Switch series, at least in general).

Re: H3C : HP mapping

It´s interesting to see that HPE adds some (older) H3C based switches. Could it be that HP 7500X is the same as H3C S7600?: http://www.h3c.com/cn/Products___Technology/Products/Switches/Park_switch/S7600/S7600/#software

, although there are different 7500 switches: http://www.h3c.com/cn/Service/Document_Software/Software_Download/Switches/

Re: H3C : HP mapping

Hi @MichaelM55, I'm not an insider expert of either H3C or HPE but, at first sight, I would say that H3C S7500X and H3C S7600 (or H3C S7600E-X / S7600X) are quite different switch series (at least judging from the sole Hardware standpoint).

The HPE Release Notes I linked on the other thread [*] lists the Comware 7.10 R7624P07 as the "first software release" for this new HPE FlexNetwork 7500X Switch series and, curiously, the very same build numbering (R7624P07) can be found on the H3C web site associated not only with their H3C S7500X Switch series (which is somewhat expected) but also with their H3C S7600, S7600E-X and S7600X Switch series (as example, see here) and also with their H3C S7500E and S7500EX Switch series.

The number of H3C software branches and switch series using them is a real jungle (or a nightmare if your task it trying to understand the roots of HPE switch series looking at H3C products portfolio from Hardware and Software standpoints).

I've learnt that we can't expect a like-for-like matching about software versions between what H3C and HPE release over time...but finding that the very same software builds (Release and Patch) numbers are used both by H3C and HPE is quite curious (very often they tend to differ along with the H3C->HPE platform transition).

To me, in the end, it's quite difficult to understand what the HPE FlexNetwork 7500X Switch sereis is going to really be without reading other HPE documents (an H3C S7500X with a flashy Comware 7 software build?) and they are - as of now - unexisting.

[*] The URL now points to nowhere, the PDF was probably withdrawn.
