Hello, I have two hp series A 5900 switches. I would like to know how to revert them to their factory defaults so they can be reconfigured from a fresh image.
Thank You.
P.S. This thread has been moved from LAN Routing to Comware-Based.

SolutionI know these run comware v7 so i am not sure if this is the correct command... This is what it is in Comware v5 I would assume they are the same. This command will reset the saved-config.
reset saved-configuration main

Re: HP Series A 5900 - How to reset to factory defaults?
Hi Tejene_bhandari,
You are resetting the saved configuration and then saving the running configuration right back to the saved configuration.
Reset the saved configuration and then reboot without saving.

Re: HP Series A 5900 - How to reset to factory defaults?
in some cases i have seen a change in the startup config.
You can check what file is being used for startup config, then delete this file and reboot the switch.
<Switch>display startup
Current startup saved-configuration file: flash:/startup.cfg
Next main startup saved-configuration file: flash:/startup.cfg
Next backup startup saved-configuration file: NULL
<Switch>delete startup.cfg
Delete flash:/startup.cfg? [Y/N]:y
Deleting file flash:/startup.cfg... Done.
<Switch>reboot
Start to check configuration with next startup configuration file, please wait.........DONE!
Current configuration may be lost after the reboot, save current configuration? [Y/N]:n
This command will reboot the device. Continue? [Y/N]:y
Now rebooting, please wait...

Re: HP Series A 5900 - How to reset to factory defaults?
I also performed these commends ona few 5920 switches and was sucessful., however I have one that regardless of the command it still reboots to the same config and does NOT go back to default.
any one experience this?
