“Attack of the Blades” brings focus to HP BladeSystem

I recently had the opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder with some of HP’s rising stars in the HP Conway Call Center as Inside Sales Representatives. Every so often, the Americas team will conduct product focus days or Blitz Days, where the entire Call Center team concentrates on a specific Business Unit’s (BU) products and solutions. So, on August 15 it was “The Attack of the Blades” theme and the HP BladeSystem solutions were front and center for the ISRs.




The whole day was planned and orchestrated by a great team from the Americas Region and the Call Center Management. It was a high energy day with scheduled customer calls, “cold” calls, training and a number of team building events sponsored by key HP Partners. The day began at 7:00 A.M.  with breakfast as well as the daily briefing and logistic info, and concluded around 6:30 P.M. with a summary of the day’s results. Throughout the day we had “Red Bull” carts rolling out to energize the team along with snacks to help keep the sugar levels high. In addition we had a team of experts available for the day to help close pending business, talk to customers about their business needs, and educate our ISRs on some of the intricacies of the BladeSystem portfolio.

What I got out of the experience was a sense of the excellent product knowledge and selling skills of a great group of ISRs. This is not a group of amateurs but a group ready for a career at HP. Whether that be as Professional Salespeople, Product Managers, Marketing people or somewhere in the HP organization, they are a smart, dedicated bunch. The Blitz Day was a great success and while I can’t share all the info, I will tell you that we found a great deal of opportunities in those 17,000+ calls that were completed that one day.




                                         The staff was busy from sunup to sundown making calls.



I know that our customers are in good hands if they have a relationship with the Conway Call Center people and that HP has a solid team working as ISRs today and an outstanding career at HP tomorrow.
