Looking for an easy 101 on HP Converged Systems that we fondly call “Sharks”? Read on.

Although we live and interact with technology every day, keeping up with IT sometimes can be a challenge. IT moves quickly and gets replaced even more rapidly, which makes it difficult to know even what to keep up with.  I know that when HP introduced the concept of a Converged Infrastructure within the datacenter 6 years ago, a lot of things have come and gone during that time. And from the CI perspective, the speed in which the strategy has taken hold and converted into physical components in the datacenter that bring value to the business has been fast, I wonder if it’s enough. I am still seeing the 70/30 ratio of IT maintenance vs innovation still in play for companies. And even though the Converged Infrastructure strategy of common standards has now become the norm, I think a lot of IT managers are asking, “What’s next?”

Last year HP invested in a new business group call HP Converged Systems that up levels how IT can now deploy into the datacenter. These new workload optimized systems are knowledge-packed and battle-tested systems specifically designed for the most critical workloads. The HP ConvergedSystem is a complete portfolio of systems fully optimized for virtualization, cloud, and big data. The portfolio delivers a total systems experience that simplifies IT through quick deployment, intuitive management, and system-level support, all built from best-in-class components.

Okay…sound great, but if you want a very easy, understandable way to learn more, check out this video of HP’s Brent Allen being interviewed by Andy McCaskey of SDR News during an HP Tech Talks session.

What I really like about the interview is the ease in which Brent lays out the business value of HP ConvergedSystem and explains the common architecture that will allow business to incorporate this new style of IT into their datacenters. Enjoy.
