The anatomy of a shark and how it relates to your datacenter infrastructure

Chris Purcell on ‎08-06-2014 03:05 PM

I thought it would be good to flag an article I recently wrote and promote the CIO forum at the same time. I helped develop a shark anatomy reference to the datacenter presentation used at the recent HP Discover Las Vegas, which I thought would be interesting to create a blog from. I scratched my head a little at the beginning of this research, thinking it was going to be difficult to tie shark anatomy and datacenter relevance together. But in the end, it turned out to be an interesting exercise which actually contained a lot of commonality and linkage.

Here’s a snippet of thinking to get you started or get your heart racing, as you see the skin fin gliding across the water towards you:

1. “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

2. “It’s only an island if you look at it from the water.”

3. “Why don’t we start leading the shark to shore instead of him leading us out to sea?”

4. “You go in the cage… cage goes in the water… sharks are in the water…”

5. “I’m not going to take this abuse much longer!”
