I tried using the new version in a cell manager with DP 6.11 but got the following error message: "Cannot find command C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin\omnidbp4000.exe"

I have recently downloaded and ran several brick reports and it is fantastic.  I am new to DP so this is helping out a lot with documenting etc.

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

hi,

I tried using the new version in a cell manager with DP 7.03 HP-UX 11.31 MCSG Cluster.

I execute the script with:

dehoux0010:/root/brick # ./brick
[HP ARIES32]: Core file for 32-bit PA-RISC application
[HP ARIES32]:   /root/brick/brick saved to /root/brick/core.brick
Memory fault(coredump)

What happend?

Would a stack trace be helpful too?

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

Hi,

the trace file would not help for the first reading. If possible recreate the problem using the -debug option and send the generated debug log file.

Hi Community,

just to let you know that I released a new tool called brick which might make handling of supports calls much more easier. In addition you get a clear documentation for your environment (like nickel or chg2html).

If you like, check it out at http://www.data-protector.org/wordpress/brick/

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

Hi,

no, you did nothing wrong... the error is related to Data Protector, as during the installation the environment variable was not set by the installer.

If you configure the environment variables and include DP_SDATA_DIR=<path to DP shared folder> the script will run as expected - please see http://www.data-protector.org/wordpress/brick/ and "Change log December 2013".

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

Hi all,

even if not stated explitly, BRICK 1.20 will run on DP 9.0X too...

I'm currently planning to release the next version (1.30) by end of this year with "official" support for 9.0X.

This version will include autoupdate feature, so when next version of DP is released it can update BRICK automatically.

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

This is a very handy tool for us DP admins thanks for the work on this!

It runs great on my Linux cell managers but I seem to get the same core dump error as the post from above when I run this on my HPUX cell managers.

My question is, was there every any further information on the UNIX error or is this just a known issue at this time?

I would love to be able to also run this within our HPUX cells.

Many Thanks!

Brian

Is BRICK no longer available?  I've tried to download from the site but it returns as an error.  I am not even able to grab the white paper.

Hello -

I just downloaded it again to test and I am able to download it and the white paper from my location.  Perhaps try to download from another computer or browser?  The site seems to be functioning properly from my end.

Re: BRICK - Version 1.20 HP-UX/Linux/Windows

Hi,

it seems you tried to download stuff just in this moment where I updated some plug-ins. Normally you should see a maintenance page in this case, even if the update lasts onl seconds.

I just verified that the website is working as expected.
