Oracle RAC installation problem
We have an Integrity 2660 with HP-UX. It has two HBA connected to a SAN repository, each HBA in a separate fiber switch. When we try to install the Oracle RAC, we don't know what device to use. The command ioscan -funC disk returns the next output:
disk 6 0/2/1/0.2.0.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200 /dev/dsk/c10t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c10t0d1
disk 7 0/2/1/0.2.1.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200 /dev/dsk/c12t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c12t0d1
disk 8 0/4/1/0.2.0.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200 /dev/dsk/c8t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c8t0d1
disk 9 0/4/1/0.2.1.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200 /dev/dsk/c6t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c6t0d1
Because of the SAN, the same disk is shown four times. Maybe there's a command that show us the disk only one time in order to use that in Oracle Clusterware.
Thanks for all your help

Re: Oracle RAC installation problem
HP - Tru64 and HP OpenVMS make the mutliple access paths transparent.
HP-UX needs help from layered software.
The classic solution for this is "Secure Path"
Google for: +"Secure Path" +hpux
If you want to check this forum first, then add: +site:itrc.hp.com
Storage view point Starting point:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/sanworks/secure-path/hp-ux.html
An other good google query could be (amazingly...) "+oracle +san +hpux +clusterware"
The best Oracle refenence for this area is probably in the Database Storage Administrators Guide: "ASM and Multipathing"
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b31107/asmprepare.htm#OSTMG02500
You'd think that the Clusterware installation Guide for HP-UX would help, but while it mentions multi-pathing, it does not really help much:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b28259.pdf
Enjoy!
Hope this helps some,
