It’s a wrap - highlights, replays, and downloads from HP Discover 2013 in Barcelona

Day three, the last of HP Discover 2013 in Barcelona, is a shorter day, as many attendees have already headed to the airport to return home. But that doesn’t mean interesting things don't happened. Those that stuck around could attend two Innovation Theater sessions, including:


The Internet of Things and wearables: driving the next phase of personal computing


In this session, Shane Wall, VP, chief technology & strategy officer, Mobility GBU, Printing & Personal Systems, and Sri Solur, VP Market Development and Cloud Services, Mobility GBU, Printing & Personal Systems, shared a vision of the future in which Systems of Chips (SoCs) connect our physical and digital worlds like never before. Wall and Solur explored with the audience this physical/digital ecosystem and looked at how integrating contextual computing and cognitive science is fueling the development of connected cars and homes and Machine to Machine (M2M) interactions that are creating opportunities across many industries.

The Internet needs a new kind of server—meet HP Moonshot


Those attending this session got an insider’s peek at HP’s own web hosting infrastructure, which is supported on our very own Moonshot servers. Scott Anderson, VP, Compute Services, demonstrated how these compact servers reduce energy use by 80 percent and costs by 77 percent. Anderson shared that the entire HP website,, is hosted on just half a traditional rack of Moonshot servers, and highlighted the growth potential that this new technology has created for the digital world.

How to steal 60 million dollars in 60 seconds. Lessons from the cyber criminals


In this final session, Andrzej Kawalec, CTO, HP Security, provided a revealing look at the world of cybercrime and demonstrated the rapid advancement of this dark side of the Internet. Kawalec provided examples of the latest cybercrime techniques, and how information security must respond to keep pace.
