Is it possible to run XP Raid Manager on a vPar (HP-UX 11.31)?
I tried to configure CA between a vPar and remote server (HP-UX 11.31) (not a vPar) and I recieved error "pairdisplay: [EX_ENORMT] No remote host alive for remote commands or Remote Raid Manager might be blocked (sleeping) on an existing I/O."
The other CA pair configured between to physical machines (HP-UX 11.31) works no problem.
I assigned CMD device and 4 LUNs to vPar with:
hpvmmodify -P vPar1HOSTA -a disk:avio_stor:disk:/dev/rdisk/disk11
xpinfo on vPar returns no output.
Thanks & Regards,
Yang

Re: XP Raid Manager on vPar?
Not sure if this is supported on a VM or not (likely not supported at all), but I would try the CMD device without AVIO.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: XP Raid Manager on vPar?
You are right, it is a VM. I'll try to assign CMD device with scsi instead of avio and let you know the result.
Thanks.

Re: XP Raid Manager on vPar?
I assigned the CMD device and another two LUN's without avio_stor and it did not work.
Is there a workaround for VM? The reason that we want to run XP RM on a VM is that we use SYMCLI on VM to manage storage replication (BCV/SRDF) "automatically". We want to do the same for HP XP storage specially for the VM connected to both EMC Symmetrix and HP XP.
Regards,
Yang
