expanding a raid 5 with an additional disk

I have a hp server i'd like to expand with an additional disk. the controller is a smart array 5i, and its a raid 5 with 3 disks. I placed a 4th of the exact same harddrive into the system and thought I expanded the raid for that logical drive, however what it did was add another logical drive instead. Is it possible to expand the original raid 5 (non system partition) with the 4th disk and increase capacity?

thanks for the help!

Re: expanding a raid 5 with an additional disk

Well I decided I'd abandon ship and remove the logical drive I managed to make (it took a week to make, which seems incredibly long). When removing logical drive, it shows more space free than the drive I originally put in to begin with which concerns me greatly. (75GB drive was placed into 6th bay of the HP machine originally to extend the raid 5 [bays 3-5 75Gb disks], the first two bays are for a mirror for system partition);  Maybe someone can help explain what has actually happened here before I go any further.
