Connect HP StoreOnce 4500 to the HYPER-V VM through Virtual Fibre Channel Adapter

Hello !

I have a HYPER-V host, ProLiant DL 380 gen8 server with 2 x HP 82Q 8Gb 2-port PCIe Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter(AJ764A), aslo we have a StoreOnce 4500 connected to this host with FC Direct Connect. Virtual SAN on HYPER-V was created and Virtual FIbre Channel Adapter added to the Virtual Machine, but whe i try to start the VM we receive an error: "NPIV virtual port operation on virtual port (XYZ) failed with an error: The operation is not supported by the fabric."(for details please see attachment)

In documentation http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03897751 (p.10) i found, that, he preferred topology for the HP StoreOnce Backup system is switched fabric using NPIV
(N_Port ID Virtualisation), so as I correctly understand In case direct connection, NPIV is not supported, so that's why I have this error. Am I right or not?

In https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831413.aspx i found the requirement for the Hyper-V Virtual Fibre Channel is An NPIV-enabled SAN, as i correct understand SAN (Storage Area Network) consist of HOST, SAN SWITCH and DISK ARRAY, hence if my confguration does not have a SAN SWITH, so it's not impossible to implement Hyper-V Virtual Fibre Channel in my case.

I strongly need to clarify this. Please help.

Thanks in advance,

Maxim
