System Management Homepage ESX3 -> ESX4 Update

Hello!

We have installe the hpmgmt-8.3.0-vmware3x.tgz HPSMH Website on a ESX 3.5 Server.
Now we will upgrade the ESX3 Server to ESX4.

Is it necessary to deinstall the hpmgmt-8.3.0-vmware3x.tgz and install the version for the ESX4 after update ESX host?

In most cases you are required to manually uninstall the old version. HP has published different versions of V8.3.0 for ESX3 and ESX4, but I did not look at the details.

There is also a problem if you go from ESX4.0 to update 1 (not update 1A) with the agents installed - after a reboot the installation is damaged (an RPM problem, the agents just trigger the problem).

And finally is hpmgmt-8.3.1-vmware4x for ESX 4.0U1:

Re: System Management Homepage ESX3 -> ESX4 Update

With ESX we find it simpler to just rebuild and reinstall agents as required rather than upgrade.
We're moving to ESXi as we move to 4 so the question oaf agents goes away.
As Uwe as stated, you must remove the HP Agents before updating.
