When I'm in the category that contains blogs I see a count of the new blog articles and comments. But when I go to the blog, I don't see any way to determine if the article or comments are unread.
About all I see is a date on the main article but nothing to show if there are new comments.
So I'm left with exhaustively looking at every article. I just looked at the FAQ and I don't see anything that mentions "unread".
Here is an example blog:
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Following-the-White-Rabbit-A/bg-p/sws-119
Its category has: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Application-Security-Community/ct-p/sws-AS
Following the White Rabbit - A Realistic Blog on Enterprise Security (9) (A count of 9 unread articles/comments)
For a board it's easy. Each new topic is in bold and has a NEW count. And when you go to a topic, it jumps to the first unread post.
Solved! Go to Solution.

SolutionOk, I think I've figured this out after wasting lots of time manually searching for entries with "comments".
(I just did a within page search and I found something unexpected.)
Off to the right is pane with "Latest Articles" (10) and below that "Latest Comments" (only 3).
I don't see anything explaining this in the blog FAQ:
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/blogs#blogs
Unfortunately this isn't ideal. If there was a comment to a real old blog, it won't show up because it isn't sorted to the top like a normal board. :-(

I found a partial solution to that.
For a given board, go to the containing category. Then click on the "See All" link. You get something like:
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/category-id/sws-Events/post-type/thread
If you can find the new blog/topic, fine. Otherwise switch to comment/post order:
http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/category-id/sws-Events/post-type/message
(Rats! The latter isn't sorted so it doesn't help much, especially if active boards in the same category.)

Now that blogs have been segregated to their own categories, this is much easier to search.

There are a few blogs that are mixed with boards. But now the See All lists are separated:
