Re: Alpha DS20E VMS8.3 Oracle 10G migrate to RX2800i Integrity Server VMS8.4 Oracle10g
Thanks Dan and Duncan - Understood - it is about a 5 fold increase in disk space between systems which relates to the min file size

So now that you know... fix it before going live.
Seem you had a cluster size of 205, now it defaulted to 1104
The default is roughly disk size divided by a million.
But you can just do: $ INIT /CLUST=256 /STRUCT=5 ...
I like powers of 2 for my cluster sizes.
Since you had 205, 256 is probably fine.
If you anticipate hundreds of thousands of file, you many trim it down to 32 or so.
If you anticipate less than thousand files, say Oracle database files, then go for 1024 or 4096 or some such.
If there are conflicting requirements, then you may want to consider using the storage tools to generate multiple, smaller volumes/partitions.
Or, you could use the LDdriver to create one or two smaller virtual drives on the large volume to hold many small files with cluster size (on the LD volume of 8 or 16)
Good luck!

Many thanks will put the user disk back to 256 and set the oracle database files to 1024
cheers
