BUG: ps comand prints out '0' for rss

hpucks 11.0
K580
4GB RAM

Can someone log a bug against ps?
I have no idea how to submit a bug to HP.
I am seeing ps printing out zeroes for the rss
and can only surmise that it is a bug.

If you have a software service contract with HP then you can call the HP response center (800-633-3600 in the US) and log a call, or you can submit a software call via the ITRC. To do this from the ITRC, go to whatever you ITRC home page is, the click the 'more...' link in the Maintenance/Support block. Then go to 'Knowldege Trees' and about 1/2 way down the page there is a link to 'Submit a Software Call to HP'. You can also seartch the knowldege tree from this area to see if you question has been solved already.

Could you include some sample output of what you are seeing with the ps command?

Re: BUG: ps comand prints out '0' for rss

Some HP-UX system daemons use Kernel memory and may not allocate distinct portions of user memory. These daemons should display 'na' (not
available) in this field.

Please give more details, have you compared RSS wrt Glance metrics.

No glance comparison.

Don't use glance, I've been told that glance
can be used to gather info into txt files
but I don't know how to do that. So I don't use glance.
HP needs to write something like vsar that
runs on solaris. The pstat interface would
be the right way to write a tool like vsar.
FWIW vsar is similar to "top" as you can
watch things as they happen (almost), it produces
lots of output. Not limited to:
context switching, paging, memory, etc. I think it
reports on ~600 pieces of info.

BTW
Why did HP decide to re-invent newsgroups
with this cumbersome interface!?!
