I was asked if there are any 3rd parties that can do bin file changes on an EMC Symmetix.
As far as I know, EMC is the only ones that can do this. Is that true?

Solution
Yes, and no.
If you have Solutions enabler, you can do most online bin changes yourself using the "symconfig" command. Or if you have Enterprise Control Center installed, you can do it from a GUI configuration. It is not 100% foolproof, but it does do a ton of checking to make sure you are not re-configuring some active volume areas.
As for third-parties, as far as I know, no one other than an EMC certified SE can apply bin file changes (online or offline) directly on the Symm.

Re: Does anyone but EMC do bin file changes.
I concur with all of the above. We use both ECC and solutions enabler to create metas, map storage, and modify masking.
All except a few mods can be made on your own.
