HP FC HBA - is firmware modified?

Some disk array vendors who sell FC HBA modify HBA firmware to optimize it for their arrays. It could disrupt functioning of multipathing software produced by other array vendors. I need FC HBAs to simultaneousely connect Proliant DL360G5 servers to disk arrays produced by different vendors (for example Sun modular arrays and HDS high-end arrays).

HP sells QLogic and Emulex FC HBA named like FC2142, etc. Does HP modifies their firmware? Can I use them in this scenario, or it is more safe to use original FC HBA sold by QLogic and Emulex independently?
