How to burn a CD on HPUX 11i ?

As I put an empty cd in the DVD-ROM the system ejects it automaticaly.

If I'm burning the files I nead under windows, then the system is having problems with mounting the device.

The basic sofware needed for this is in http://hpux.connect.org.uk/

The OS component cdrecord, is a bit hard to find but may be available now in http://software.hp.com

Take a look at Internet Express and see if there are any new toys there to make it easier.

Your software choices for doing the burn are normally limited to the command line, but it may be possible from a gui.

However, if your drive is a DVD-ROM drive then this won't work. Not all DVD drives are capable of creating CDs/DVDs. You must have a DVD+RW drive in your HP-UX machine.

You also have the option of creating the ISO disk image on HP-UX and transferring it to a PC for the actual burn. My laptop is sitting here next to me and the drives on the HP-UX boxes are in a different building.

PC software I have used has all had a burn from ISO image ability, but it is not always obvious.

For creating the image I use mkisofs.

Hi,

the most is already said:

you have to create an image at UX with mkisofs, then transfer it to m$ and burn it as an image.
When mounting the cd you need the RockRidge option for the mount command.

My mkisofs command is:
/opt/mkisofs/bin/mkisofs -J -l -L -r -T -v -o /tmp/cdrom.iso

The problem is, there is no soft for my OS (HPUX 11i PA-RISC)at http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Misc/mkisofs-1.12b5/.

Do you think the other versions will work with my OS ?

HP-UX can access any windows share with smbclient. smbclient is part of CIFS/9000 Samba and is free at http://software.hp.com Search for CIFS/9000. Tale the client version and isntall it. It will require a system boot.
