current situation is:
For customers still running Tru64 UNIX V4.0F, V4.0G, and/or V5.1A. Tru64 UNIX Extended Engineering Support (EES) is also available for these versions.

Re: Is Tru64 5.1A still supported by HP
However, Engineering support (e.g. investigation and correction of new bugs) is generally available only for the most recently released version and the one before it. V5.1B-5 is the current version, so this includes V5.1B-4 and V5.1B-5. Later this year, V5.1B-6 will be released (it's currently in testing). When that happens, V5.1B-4 will be two versions back and drop out of the list, while V5.1B-5 and V5.1B-6 remain under Engineering support. This Engineering support will continue through at least the end of 2012, as shown by the roadmap at http://tru64unix.compaq.com/pdf/Tru64%20roadmap%20march09.pdf .
Note to clarify version naming:
V5.1B-4 = V5.1B + patch kit 6.
V5.1B-5 = V5.1B + patch kit 7.
V5.1B-6 = V5.1B + patch kit 8.
If Engineering support is required on an older version or beyond 2012, it *is* possible to purchase Extended Engineering Support (EES) or Custom Engineering Support (CES) from HP, as Pieter pointed out in a previous reply. See http://tru64unix.compaq.com/ees.html for mroe information. If this is of interest to you, you should contact your HP representative for details.
After the end of Engineering support availability, remedial and advisory support will continue to be available for some time. There is not yet a specific end date being contemplated, as far as I am aware.
Bottom line: your V5.1A system is still supported for remedial and advisory support. You can call HP for problems with it, assuming of course that you have a support contract. :) But that version is no longer under Engineering support, and hasn't been for some time. So if you managed to find a previously unknown bug in V5.1A after all this time, there would be no Engineering analysis or correction available for it -- unless you had previously purchased EES for it.
Hope this helps,
Martin
