Re: Mirrordisk US & MCservice Guard , Codeword & CD

1) Mirror Disk is usually on disc 1 of the App Cd. MC/SG is on cd 4 or 5. If generating a codeword on the Internet you get a choice of valid part numbers. Make sure the one you choose at http://licensing.hp.com matches a cd you have in house.

2) Both require different codewords

3) If you migrage the .codewords files or codeword input with swinstall on two servers it will work however both products are licensed per cpu and you must have valid licenses for any cpu you are running production on.

This is my understanding based on experience. My shop is legal for both products.

i'm not sure which cd it is

yes they do

3.Can i use some used codeword which installed in other Server.
the codeword is specific to each system so it will only work on a single system

Re: Mirrordisk US & MCservice Guard , Codeword & CD

Hi Raj,

Mount any CD and look at the file CD_TABLE_OF_CONTENTS and search for any product you want. Once it is found, just go up and to find the CD number.

You can also get them from software.hp.com if you want to purchase.

If you have the codeword, run 'swinstall' and add the codeword in there. Then the software should appear if you mount the CD and point your source to it in 'swinstall'.

Re: Mirrordisk US & MCservice Guard , Codeword & CD

hi,

1. if u r using CD of Application software, Dec 2003:
MirrorDisk/UX [B2491BA] -> CD 1 of 5
MC ServiceGuard [B5161FA] -> CD 5 of 5
alternatively, u may read the CD_TABLE_OF_CONTENTS file from the CD.

2. yes, codeword r necessary for both software before u see it appearing in the disk.

3. u may if u know your Customer Identifier or License Number or Certificate ID and have the same HP-UX Application Media Part Number that u use to generate the used codewords.

Re: Mirrordisk US & MCservice Guard , Codeword & CD

Hi Gurus ,

Thanks to Steven , Curt , Sridhar and Joseph , and who all replied and provided good idea .

Actually the software was not appearing in the CD , hence the idea of codeword is clear now .
* Same CD and Same Codeword is necessary, right!. As i have applied codeword to the other server and working fine, i can install this server using the same CD and codeword. Is it right.!!

Thanks to all ,

Regards ,
