I have a HP-UX server 11.11, this server has the following information in the MP log:

PROCESSOR INFORMATION

HVERSION SVERSION Processor
Processor Speed Model Model/Op CVERSION State
--------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------------
0 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 3.2 Active
1 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 3.2 Idle

you can see that the server has 2 Procesor but one of them is whit state Idle, is this normal activity ?

That how it will look like. at the boot time, only one will be active.

Both will be active when system starts OS.

Re: Procesor State

when the system is executing the bootstrap loader, it only is capapble of running the single processor (processor 0).

After th eOS gets loaded, it probes the other hardware on the system, finds the second (and if available 3rd, 4th and so on) processors and utilizes them in a multiprocessor environment implemented in your OS.

Re: Procesor State

Hi Alan

After server boot, this is normal. After starting application, use "top" command to see variation on processors load.
