Server loses network setting after reboot

Hi,
We have a server runniver version 5.1A and we were doing just a test reboot and after that the server has started to come up having lost network setting. All networking files are fine and the network hardware works fine. We have also tried to use Sysman to configure network and we get the same results.

Any ideas what we are doing wrong or what has changed? Many thanks

Which settings, specifically, did you lose?

Re: Server loses network setting after reboot

LAN settings for the NIC cards. Like we have 2 cards and have only configures one. in this case ee1. In this case, the interface will lose its IP, netmask, gateway etc.

We even created the file /etc/inet.local and it still is there and its of no help.

Can you post /etc/rc.config?

Re: Server loses network setting after reboot

Compliments of the new season. Had taken leave for a while leaving the server running on generator power.

Attached is the System Configuration in HTML format. Navigate to the network settings and it should give all the config info needed.

I hope this helps. Thanks

Re: Server loses network setting after reboot

HI,

make a copy of /etc/rc.config and modify the original file with the following value:

NETDEV_1="ee1"
IFCONFIG_1="your.new.ip.address netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
NUM_NETCONFIG="2

close the file and restart network service
# rcinet restart

PS: really appreciate if u could assign some points if this solve or answer your question.

Re: Server loses network setting after reboot

The site engineer updated me that they have just completed running bill runs on the system the past two weeks. They will try the suggestion this very weekend if all goes according to plan.

On monday I should be a state to try it out.

Many thanks for the heads up,
Otukile
