Hi,
I see that hpux 11.11 and 11.23 are now "Support without sustaining engineering"
And I found out in a pdf file that it means:
"For many products, these services include sustaining engineering where HP has enlisted the skills of key
problem-solving specialists in HP and selected third-party engineering groups. For other products
support is provided without sustaining engineering and is limited to technical resources available in HP
Global Solution Centers."
So does this mean that hpux 11.11 and 11.23 no longer are going to have patch updates?.
Even let's say that we get a big security issue that needs to be fixed to new patches will be created, no?.
Please can someone clarofy this point?, specially I would like to know if no new patches will get published.
Thanks

Re: What does "Support without sustaining engineering" mean
The document suggests
Please contact your local HP support representative for detailed information

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: What does "Support without sustaining engineering" mean
According to my contacts in HPE Technology Services, the document that most accurately describes these support terms is this one: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA2-5741ENW:
HP Prior Software Version Support and HP Mature Software Product Support services without sustaining engineering are limited to the resources available in HP's global service delivery organization. Problems that cannot be resolved by the service delivery organization through providing advice or delivery of a commercially available software patch will be addressed via a workaround, where HP is able to make such a workaround available. Problems will not be escalated to an HP or third-party engineering group.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Solution
11.11 and 11.23 are officially obsolete, so in general there will be no more patches. This has been on the roadmap for several years now. Just like 10.20 and 11.00, there will likely be no patch bundles such as HWE and QPK. New peripherals and storage will be unsupported. Security patches are difficult to predict -- a bug may be so severe that a patch or workaround is published but in general, unsupported means no further engineering work. Note that you can purchase extended support for really old HP-UX versions (ie, 10.20, even earlier) on a really pricey contract.
The only supported version of HP-UX is now 11.31, with regular updates as well as patches. Unlike patches, updates provide additonal features. Here's the current update document:
http://www8.hp.com/h20195/V2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4AA3-5947ENW&cc=us&lc=en
and for OS versus compute platform:
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4AA4-7673ENW&cc=us&lc=en
New updates and patch bundles are now being released in March so there will likely be newer docs and bundles next month.
