Re: dmisp consuming more CPU on HP-UX 11.
Try stop and restart
Restart the dmisp daemon, utilization will come down to normal.
/sbin/init.d/Dmisp stop
/sbin/init.d/Dmisp start

Re: dmisp consuming more CPU on HP-UX 11.
To answer your first question:
"'dmisp' part of Desktop Management Interface - DMI is used by inventory management softwares like Insight manager, Service control manager. If you don't have them installed, then you don't need to have it running. "

To answer the second question, if you are running Systems Insight Manager or other management software like the one listed above, it├В┬┤s likely that this software collect informaiton about managed nodes, so it is likely that they will store information as their ip address.

Jaime.

Re: dmisp consuming more CPU on HP-UX 11.
A bi-annual patch installation may help.
PPID being 1 may indicate the process is orphaned and can not be killed.
If that is the case, reboot may be required to fix it?

Re: dmisp consuming more CPU on HP-UX 11.
Mine did this again after the server had been up for exactly one year.
Restarting the application in a root "at" job cleared the problem.
at now
/sbin/init.d/Dmisp stop
/sbin/init.d/Dmisp start
