Re: linux equivalent to glance

Richard,

I'm afraid you're stuck with Top, Sar, vmstat, and all the other old standbyes - I've never heard of a Linux Glance.

Re: linux equivalent to glance

It doesnt have to be a glance or even an HP product. Just any util that will do basicly the same things as glance.

Re: linux equivalent to glance

There is no port.

You can get some of the information from the top command, some of the information from the sar command.

Here is a sar script that collects data and can be adapted to Linux.

Re: linux equivalent to glance

I have asked this particular question previously when talking to people at HP's marketing, the questions become:

1.Which Linux,

2. How much can we charge for an application on a free Operating System.

Until these questions are answered, I doubt an HP version of Glance would ever be developed much less released or marketed.

Clearly It is a financial question, what would it take to be worth HP's money, and what is the financial return.

Re: linux equivalent to glance

Hi
we have tried sar, bonnie and other built in commands. But I have yet to find something to give me the equivalent to the glance output of "Disk IO Rate" and the "Disk Report"

Re: linux equivalent to glance

Richard,

I wonder if this question is dated or you have asked HP support about this and found out something, or *I* don't understand your question at all :) -

GlancePlus (Ver 4) is available now and only on linux.

here's a doc which talks of this -

Re: linux equivalent to glance

I doubt it. You may get bits and pieces of glance functionality for Linux but not the whole thing. Did you try searching ..
http://rpmfind.net
ie the Linux rpc resources. They are a lot of rpm package in there and if you spend some time you may find what you need. For example there is a package called "diskcheck" (used to monitor disk space) and depending on your Linux distribution, you can download and install them for your use. I have not look in detail for anything resembling glance.

Re: linux equivalent to glance

Sounds like Ramd has your solution, but I did come up with a couple possibilities, though I don't know how will they would fit your needs. Gnome has something called system-monitor and KDE has something called the info-center.

Ram

You earned the bunny. =)

Now can you answer the bonus question.
Where can I download it? And is it the same as the hp glance that it has a free trial?
