nfs general question

hi everyone,

i have a question for a long time i hope you can help with her, can some one please explain to me in detail

why we cant configure a NFS protocol on a native Fibrechannel infrastracture ?

fibre channel work on a block level which is a lower level then a file ( file composed of block at the end day ) and NFS  is a layer 7 protocol.

i don get it right at all please let me know , thank to all those who helps:-)

Re: nfs general question

Because everyone is using fibre channel for mass storage only (SCSI protocol) and nobody is using it as IP network (despite it is specified by standard).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: nfs general question

IP over fibre channel is specified in the standards, but I'm not aware of an implementation (unlike FC over IP/ethernet, which is available).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
