Re: windows to linux migration

I use Redhat and Fedora.
Up to today there aren't work that this distro cannot do :)

For www use apache.
for mail use:
sendmail
postfix
or
qmail
for chat there a lot of server/clients.
for proxy use squid.

you can find documntation :
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/

for support hardware :
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/hwcert/list.cgi?component=Red+Hat+Enterprise+Linux&version=4&bug_status=CERTIFIED

Re: windows to linux migration

First - I don't suggest you to migrate your servers to LINUX if you don't have a linux guru in your team/company.

Anyway - you should start from contact your local IBM/HP/Dell represantives, they will be happy to help you with migration plan.

As for now, there are two enterprise-ready distribution [IMHO, of course] - RHEL [http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/] and SLES [http://www.novell.com/products/linuxenterpriseserver/]. If you have local RH or Suse branch, they may assist you too.
