Cloud computing:Three steps to preparing with automation

Cloud services can help you reduce costs, improve service levels and increase agility. Everyone knows that. Unfortunately, the business doesn’t always understand what’s involved with cloud computing. As long as the business gets its deliverables on time, on budget and at the right levels of quality, it doesn’t particularly care whether the infrastructure is on-premises, in the cloud or a hybrid. IT, on the other hand, does care. It wants to understand the underlying services so it can maintain compliance and quality while keeping the business satisfied.

To make matters more complicated, public cloud providers claim they can do what the IT department does, only faster, cheaper and better. Internal IT is under pressure to provide private cloud versions of these services. To do that, IT must automate. Automation is the key that allows IT to provide services—such as faster delivery and reduced cost—that compete with those of public cloud providers.

The important thing is to get started. But how do you begin the automation process?

Discover Performance has a new article that outlines the three necessary steps you can take to ease your transition to private and hybrid delivery through automation. Developed specifically for IT leaders, Discover Performance focuses on delivering actionable insights from peers, thought leaders and industry analysts, to help you turn IT performance into business success.
