HP Helion Series: Real World Clouds in the Enterprise

‎07-09-2014 08:17 AM - edited ‎10-09-2015 09:58 PM

This is the second post in a new blog series, HP Helion Series. The first post focused on defining the HP Helion portfolio as a series of cloud solutions enabling customers to transform to the new style of IT with a complete set of cloud products.

In this post, I want to focus on the reality of clouds in the enterprise and the important concept that there is no one size fits all cloud product for every organization. The ability to leverage private, public, managed and hybrid clouds is the reality in today’s cloud rollouts and each offering has its unique solution set for best fit.

At the recent HP Discover event in Las Vegas, Bill Hilf, SVP of Product and Service Management, HP Helion details the concept behind choosing the best cloud for your business needs and how hybrid cloud becomes foundational in your total solution.

Key Highlights:

  • Hybrid cloud architecture is not simply moving VMs around
  • IT infrastructure must be designed for failure to occur
  • Developers want more NOT LESS abstraction
  • Cloud should provide more flexibility not less
  • Rapid prototyping (dev/test) provides real value quickly
  • Scalability does not equal stability
