Cell Boot is blocked

RP7420. HP-UX 11iv3.

MP shows one of the cell boot is blocked.

HW status for Cell 1 : FAILURE DETECTED
Power status : OFF, no fault
Boot is blocked

How to make cell boot unblock from MP?

I am not able to boot the OS because of this issue. Someone please tell me how to unblock boot on the cell from MP?

Thanks & Regards,

Shashi Kanth

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Cabinet is powerd on, both cells are powerd on, but one cell boot is blocked and another cell boot is unblocked.

Enter cell number: 0
HW status for Cell 0 : FAILURE DETECTED
Power status : on, no fault
Boot is not blocked

HW status for Cell 1 : FAILURE DETECTED
Power status : on, no fault
Boot is blocked

HW status for rp7420 cabinet : NO FAILURE DETECTED

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

And what do you get if you run the MP -> PS command for these cells and the cabinet?

Hope this helps!

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Check sysrev also to see if the values are ok and are not zero.

I had a very similar situation with the cell like this where I had to change the backplane.

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Cell 1 shows invalid, almost the same symptoms I had.

Have you reseated cell 1? if yes

Have you powered off the system, pulled the 4 power cables off waited 2 minutes and repowered the box?

Re: Cell Boot is blocked

Hi Shashi Kanth,

you can boot a cell which just stopped at BIB (Boot is Blocked) with the MP:CM> BO command.

However, there might be a reason / issue which caused to stop the cell.
E.g. in your case the two cells have different firmware. - They will not work in the same partition.

Kind Regards

Holger
