HP9000 K-Class(K420) - Value
The company I work for, has in it's possession, an HP900 K-Class server. We do not have a use for this machine. We've tried listing this machine on Ebay, to no avail...
How can I get a fair market value for equipment like this? I've contacted a few "chop-shops", and we think the equipment is worth more that they're willing to give. Does HP provide any trade-in programs?
If you'd like to see details of the machine, use the following link:

Thanks!

Re: HP9000 K-Class(K420) - Value
Scott,
Used computer equipment typically has the value of a boat anchor. We can never get what we think it's worth. Has the equipment been depreciated by your accounting department? If you can get book value you've done well. If it is completely depreciated then anything you get is usually good.
Here is a list I put together of some vendors that deal in used equipment.

I've never dealt with any of them so I can not give you a reference.
HP does do some with trade-ins. They have had a program to trade in K's for new N's. They don't give you much on the trade in. They basically just take it off your hands. At some point you spend too much time trying to sell it and you've lost value just in you time.
